| Richard Sadleir of New Zealand has
traced his lineage back to Sir Ralph's brother John Sadleir. He
has also compiled a
list of Sadleir/Sadlier baptisms, marriages & burials from
Church of Ireland records for Tipperary from 1780 onwards.

the Siege of Boulonge, 1544

upon Avon and then a grocer in London. He had lands at Marchants
Hope and Martins Brandon near present day Richmond in Virginia,
USA. He was granted lands in Co.Tipperary, Ireland but died before
he could take them up. m.
Elizabeth Quiney in 1610 and had 10 children including
{ The Sadleir, Quiney and Shakespeare families all intermarried
and one Hamnet Sadler was godfather to William Shakespeare’s
children and is mentioned in his will }

James Sadleir of
Tipperary town and then Cork , an ancestor
of Major George
Forster Sadleir (
1789-1859) the first European to cross Saudi Arabia in 1819 and of Richard
Sadleir ( 1795-1889) R.N.,J.P. who fought in the 1814-1815 war
against USA, emigrated to Sydney, Australia in 1826. He was
elected to government there, wrote the first book on aboriginals,
and was the first mayor ( 1872) of Liverpool. There are many
Sadleirs in Australia descended from him. A suburb of Sydney is
named Sadleir after him.

{ The oldest son James Robert Sadleir stayed at Brookville but his oldest son James
Robert McMahon Sadleir emigrated to California USA and has
descendents there, J.R.M’s brother Marshal
died in Brookville in 1963 and the estate was sold out of the
family. The other 4 sons of James & Elizabeth emigrated
to Australia , Richard
Sadleir in 1852, married no children, John
, see below ,with Nicholas
in 1852. Nicholas, a prominent station manager in western
N.S.W and Tasmania had a large family with many living descendents
in Australia, Argentina and Scotland. Marshal Clarke
went to Victoria in 1872 and has descendents in Australia }

John Sadleir( b 1832 d 1919)
Emigrated
to Melbourne ,Australia in 1852, joined Victorian Police. He was
Superintendent in charge of the operation which captured the
infamous outlaw Ned Kelly in 1880,He wrote a book on his
recollections. m Isabella Maria Crofton in 1857 and had 12
children. There are over 120 descendents of this couple all born
in Australia
{ four of John & Isabella’s sons went to the Western
Australia Goldfields in 1895 –Ernest
William, Ralph Crofton,Henry
Woodward , see below, and George
Nicholas . The last 3 started a customs and shipping agency in
Fremantle which continues today as Sadleirs Transport}
